Club sport wheels

Hi all, bought a set of 7 and 8 x 16 Clubsport wheels and have found them to be slightly different from the standard CS wheels. They have none of the small reliefs either side of the spokes and are perfectly flat. Both fronts and rears are the same. They have a 928 part number with offset 60 front and back? Simon, any ideas, I know the standard CS wheels are all 928 part numbers but never seen any like this before???
Any ideas anyone? WIll try and get a pic tomorrow, didn't have my camera at the garage with me today,
Alasdair

They sound like Gullideckels to me. Theyre Fuchs forged wheels and look similarish 'Clubsport' wheels, but with slots as opposed to triangulary holes: theyd have a 65mm and 52.3mm offset though, I think (with 928 part numbers). The Winter wheels Lali is referring to are also called '928 Discs' and have a flat surface with a rebated edge along the rim.

Marcus who used to be on titanic also had his 944 turbo S wheels ground and polished smooth so could be those or similar?

What are the part numbers? Fuchs Turbo S (Clubsport) wheels have 928 part numbers for the rear and 951 part numbers for the unique fronts. If you have the part numbers then theres a better than even chance of identifying them...

The 928 CS wheels where the same size all round, the 951 had narrower fronts hence the unique 951 part no.

No Sir, CS wheels on 928 were 8" wide up front [:)]

This is going to completely confuse all of you! Wheels are 7 front and 9 rear! They are not normal CS and fronts have a 951 part number and the backs have a 928 part number??????????

Alasdair,
I will buy the Fuchs for my early offset Turbo, stop the refurb i will take as is as i want black centres. Regards the other wheels ???????????? never saw that stylee before.
Looking for a good no holes black centre console and some alloy front wishbones to suit 220 with a view to a rebush.
Have you looked at Daves 250 yet ?
Jim.

Looking at the CS wheels again maybe they have been "restored" and a substantial amount of alloy has been removed removing the scollops that were originally cast in to the wheels, skimming the face by 3 mm or so would probably lose the scallop ?

If that was the case they should go in the bin (Ok to the scrapyard) IMHO - the spokes are already pretty thin, and I have seen one fail that had been refurbed

Difficult to say from just a photo but from the way the part numbers look on the back I would say they have been painted a few times already. I also I totally agree with Frenchy and Ed - the fronts have been skimmed by quite some margin to get rid of the grooves and I would not feel happy having spokes that thin on my car

Can anyone with a CS fitted car mike the spoke thickness for me front and back and I will have a check of the wheels? The spokes still looked pretty thick from what I remember. Could they have been built up with weld and then machined smooth?

I'm no expert, far from it, but as I understand it these wheels are forged. This makes them liable to be brittle, and possibly fail. I'd be very worried if they've been polished or machined so far as to remove the pattern on the front.

Happy to have it explained by someone who knows better, though. [&:]

Alasdair,
I have a set at my ma's garage (my other garage) can i have the Fuchs please ? and i will measure them tomorrow when i go down to pick the black rocket up !
