Hi All,
Im a newbie here and have long been dreaming of buying my childhood dream 911; a club sport in white with red decals and wheels. I wondered if any PCGB members could shed any light onto the model specifically and anyone else's opinions on what appears to be a rare version of the 3.2. My biggest concern is the different seal/protection on the underside of the car, is this a big problem?
Thanks in advance.
Justin

Brilliant little cars. Had one for 12 years and a good one is one of the nicest 911s of all time. Contact the PCGB '911 Club Sport Register' - they have lots of information to whet your appetite. However, they are rare, sought after, and many are in long-term ownership, so they aren't cheap.

Great Car. Very balanced and driveable . I have owned one for 7 years and have to say it makes me smile everytime I use it. It will hold its own with a modern day 911 in the right hands and is pure driving at its best, There are no driver aids , no abs and no creature comforts however only very few came to the UK with all the underseal removed. Most of them have the underseal but they dont have any sound deadening so you really feel and here every stone flicked up which adds to the driving pleasure. The running costs are reasonable compared to any of the later cars and agreed value insurance and cheaper car tax adds to the benefit of ownership. Having sung all of its praises I am in fact considering selling mine so PM me if interested. Alan

Hi Chaps, Thanks for the replies. I'm on holiday at the moment and have spent the last few days reading every possible forum I can find and ordered a couple of books to read. The thing that I am quickly realising is just how high prices seem to be getting and that means I may just seem my dream waiting a little while yet. Thanks for the notes on the underseal, thats given me some peace of mind. Im certainly happy with the raw nature of the car as it would be a loved toy and prized possession with little but regular use. Being as it is the realisation of a dream the only thing that concerns me is my lacking of ability, not its! alpole, I'll PM you with regards to your car, as at the very least it would be great to see what you are thinking. A question for you both with regards to my lack of ability, do you think I would be better learning to love driving a 911 before aiming for the CS? Thinking along the lines of an 3.2 or SC as a starter for track days etc thanks again Justin

Justin, Will send you a pm re my car. With reference to your ability to jump into a CS or an SC or standard 3.2 it depends on how the car is set up and whether it has been maintained to the standards required. When I first bought my CS it was very twitchy around corners and on its first service in my ownership I had the suspension renewed along with a geometry set up and new tyres and this transformed its handling. Many will argue that a standard 3.2 can be made to handle like a CS and in some respects this is true and if you intend to track the car then it does make a cheaper alternative however I notice that the 3.2 is also increasing in value. Have a look on the impact bumpers forum website as there is lots of usefull information about all the impact bumper cars and the guys on there are really user friendly. Dont worry about your ability as the car becomes part of you and its feedback is truly fantastic.
