hiya,,,,
After having some new og mats fitted soon it got me thinking about adding a Clubsport steering wheel? or keeping my og wheel which is in great condition?,,,,,,
i also wondered once you change the wheel to a Cs,,is that a slippery slope as i also like the look of cup1s on our cars,,,,
anybody had this mod fitted or had a cs wheel fitted then reverted back to there og wheel? and how about cup1s? look great or keep design 90s,,,,,anybody fitted cup1s over design 90s?,,,,,,,
any replies and pics much appreciated,,,,,,,,cheers,,,jasonp

Not sure about the club sport steering wheel but remember our standard "lozenge" type wheel (non airbag) was fitted to some 911s and the 959. A bit of family DNA ... I personally like the Cup 1s also but would only do it for 17" wheels - I wouldn't swap to 16" Cups for the sake of change. Initially I was not a fan of the D90s but over the years they have grown on me...they just look "right" somehow.

17" X 7.5 and 9 Cup 1's on mine along with CS steering wheel and 968 CS Recaro pole positions, Purfect !

I have got everything bar seats to put back to original.

Thanks Chaps,,

looks very good briggy,,

I know exactly what you mean Bruce,,,

very nice Jim,,,,

how much for refurbed og cup1s to fit an s2? ,,

just of interest of course,,,lol,,,,

cheers,,jasonp

Jason, mine are not for sale, but they are quite expensive now, 7.5 fronts are a premium £££ seriously looking at 1.5k to 2k for a good set of 17".

I can remember when £700 would have bought a set.

Hi Jason, here's a pic of mine, same colour as yours with 17" Cup 1's

Jason,

Steering wheel is entirely a matter of preference and looks. Clubsport steering wheels are nice things but I found that a good Momo with a boss gave 95% of the experience for about 40% of the price.

Wheels are a matter of personal preference as well as handling dynamics. There are many, many threads on here about wheels so fire up the kettle, make a cup of tea, read them all and make your mind up. For what it's worth, I asked a similar question on here a while ago and you can read the answers here:

I concluded that the D90 was a very good wheel indeed for good driving dynamics (which has always interested me more than looks) and I simply bought some new tyres.

Oli.

Agreed Oli, choice of wheels, road or steering type are personal preference or what the car came with when you bought it. I always liked D90's on my previous S.2's, but still fancied 17" Cup 1's and that's what were fitted on my current 944. Again, with steering wheel... I was always happy with the original lozenge, but I've found I prefer the present MOMO Corse. Never a fan of the CS....think it looks a bit dull and I found the rim a bit thick

All a matter of personal preference. I use a Momo wheel on the S2 and have often thought of putting the "lozenge" back, but I don't find it particularly comfortable to use. The extended boss on the Momo gives me a better driving position.

i am wondering why people dont seem to use the 16 cup1s and go straight to the 17s?,,,,,

I decided if i do fit a cs wheel then cup1s would make it seem more matching,,

Then stick a big ugly decal on the side and call it an SE lol, lol,,,,

Although after reading Olis link it would seem prudent to keep the D90s ,, jasonp
