Clunk clunk sound while reversing with braking

Eye in the Sky

Hi,

This is the problem whenever I put my Cayenne S (2008) into reverse ...

It always produced some loud clunk clunk sound (can be very clearly heard by everyone in cabin) whenever you brake while reversing.

Has anyone had this problem? Any clue what this might be?

Best!

Hi - just came on to look for same thing. I use a 'specialist' thats the 'word' the OPC use if you take your car elsewhere! I recently had all brakes/discs renewed at 30k on a MY06 v6... when reversing with the window down rectly I heard a mechanical clank. The 'specialist' advised the calipers when re-used have initially a looser fit - after all the brake muck is dislodged etc. that can generate this sound. Other than this brakes are spot on.. He said to bring it in and he'll confirm this...which we all know is worth doing!

I am sending my car in. Let's see what the findings will be. I can honestly say that the clunking (when reversing and braking) is still there and its annoying to say the least.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Same problem here, definite clunking when reversing.
Porsche said it wasn't an issue!

They would, your their best friend when there selling the car, but as soon as there is an issue ..... well see other posts!

Hi, depending on the year of the car, first try tiptronic control unit software update, if that doesn't do the job you will need to replace the transmission.
