Clunking noise when gently taking up drive

Pretty much since owning my car (GTS 4.0 Cayman), I’ve sometimes noticed a single clunk from the rear when gently accelerating after slowing to < 5mph (at a roundabout for example). Is this a "normal” noise from the LSD or should I be worried?

Can you feel the clunk through the drivetrain ... i.e. is it mechanical ?

What transmission are we talking about here David - manual or PDK - and what makes you suspect the LSD as the source of the clunk? Unlikely I would have thought at low speed/torque in a straight line.

A degree of backlash in the drivetrain - gearbox, final drive and driveshafts - will always be present, the extent being depending upon manufacturing tolerances. For starters, you should be able to check for play in the driveshaft CV joints.

It’s a PDK Jeff. When I told a friend with a GT4 he said “oh that’s the LSD and it’s normal”. It does worry me though. I think it’s probably one for the dealership to check.
