Clutch Advice

I’m looking for some advice from the more knowledgeable than me on this forum (which probably means everybody!) about a suitable clutch replacement for my 996. It's a GT3 derived race car (not a Cup car) currently fitted with a Helix 4-paddle race clutch. The car is double driven in the Porsche Club Speed Championship and also let out to play for two or three track days a year. Although it is road legal, it is not used on the road.

The clutch is great on circuit for track days, but is a bit too vicious in the Speed events which have lots of standing start launches. It's also quite noisy, especially in reverse, when manoeuvring the car around the paddock. What I’m after is a clutch with a bit more of a progressive feel but that would still have a decent lifespan and be robust enough to cope with the many standing starts of hill climbs and circuit sprints.

Please let me know if you have any advice or recommendations. Thanks

I can't say I have an answer, but the 2003 GT3 Cup I worked on some time ago had the 4-paddle clutch plate, so might be the same as you have. The Cup used a standard pressure plate, common to the GT3 and Turbo.

I would have thought that a Turbo or GT3RS clutch might be a bit easier to manage, and might handle hard starts without too much bother. Trouble is, there is only one way to find out, and it isn't my money......

Bit confused as to what you have Tim? Is it a GT3 engine or a 996 engine? If Gt3 then go for the standard GT3 clutch disc, should be less digital than the 4 puc.
