Clutch and brake advice please

Hi, I viewed a 996 the other day and as soon as I saw it, I loved it!, but when I came to test drive it, the clutch was extremely heavy! Then to top it off the brake we're shocking. The car has 70k on it, I've not test drove anymore as there is nothing close by I like, is the clutch normally very heavy? The brake pipes had corroded and were replaced according to paperwork. Any help would be grateful.

Have you driven a 996 before or was that your first test drive?
It's all relative, the brakes take a good shove to work even compared to new Porsches which are much more 'digital'. But that's where you get brake 'feel', you get used to it and it's a great feature of the car.
Ditto the clutch.

Test drive others so you have something to compare it to.

Otherwise the clutch could be on it's way out and the discs rusty (especially from the inside) and brake fluid full of water.

Own a Carrera 3.4 2001 4S (Tiptronic)

Brakes on rear (Back of disc can really rust)

MIne sailed through the MOT but rear of Discs heavily corroded so replace rear discs and pads (Handbrake pads where virtually new!)
Look at the pads in the calliper - about 100.00 a set

Its a problem but all parts can be obtained from Euro

Also brake bleeding is recommended when you replace the brakes

Above NOT Terminal or that costly - easy do it yourself job

CLUTCH
My cousin warned me against manual as to quote "The clutch is very heavy" but not driven a manula

AS suggested try another

DONT LET YOUR HEART RULE YOUR HEAD

Had my 996 for 6 months and had similar experience with the brakes - at service MOT time my local indie Northway said it was OK to pass but recommended a brake fluid change - BIG difference, and there was nothing'wrong' with the original fluid, just that the braking demands of a Porsche degrade the efficacy of the hydraulic fluid in even normal use (s**t sound like an engineer...!).

Can't comment on clutch as I am Tiptronic - worth a check by someone in the know I'd say before you buy.

Stay lucky.
