Clutch bleeding tricks of the trade

So started the engine for the first time[:)]
now it is upto me to put everything else back together starting with bleeding the clutch
ive got a hand operated vacuum pump do I guess I put this on the slave, pump it and fill resivoir with fluid?

do I have clutch depresed ? any tricks or help, advice welcomed

 
Get new thumb pump oil can full of fluid. Attach length of hose to it and the nipple. Crack the nipple and pump the fluid up to the master cylinder and reservoir. Pushes all the air up and out of the reservoir. Job done.
 
Iv not had issue manually bleeding. Cap off front end jacked up so I can get under. Fill res then get another person to push pedal. Open slave push pedal shut slave lift pedal. And repeat and repeat till pedal comes back up on its own. Then open slave a little and pump pedal till no bubbles
 
Was I dreaming, or do I remember that you can fix the clutch pedal down and fill the master until fluid runs out of the open slave. Can anyone confirm? Steve
 
No it shouldn't. Theoretically you should be able to gravity feed a clutch but who knows how long that would take or you ever get rid of all the bubbles. Back bleeding always worked for me firt time. If you leave the slave out of its housing then when done crack the nipple again and use the slave rod to just push any air out that may still be in the slave cylinder.

that's the only way I have managed on my own in the 968, robs method as listed in his two posts
