Clutch Helper

I need some guidance. A few weeks ago, my clutch suddenly felt very heavy. The cause was found when I went to vacuum the car, part of a spring near the pedals.

So I ordered a replacement Clutch Power Spring, but the packaging says GT2/GT3 - 99642308119. But when I look at the parts list it says it should be 99642308118. I guess it's case of muppetry by me. Can I still use this one, or will I have to return for a replacment ?- considering the bottom of my left foot has gone numb (it took three weeks for the replacement to arrive).

Cheers
David

There seem to be a lot of revisions of this spring. In fact, the latest PET shows 996.423.081.20 as the latest version for a MY2002 car. 996.423.081.18 shows as the correct part for a MY2004 car.

Edit: 996.423.081.19 shows as the latest version for cars up to MY2001. I don't know why a 3.4 clutch pedal and hydraulics would be that different to a 3.6, and the .19 is the one used for all MYs of GT3. I suspect it would work fine, but I don't know for sure.

Helper spring now fitted. I never want to have to do that again. Some people might think it was easy but not me! It was easier fitting the exhaust! Can't believe such a simple spring failure could be so difficult.

But what difference it makes, sitting in traffic doesn't fill me with fear any more. And to think some owners actually remove the spring to aid 'feel' of the clutch.
