Clutch Judder is it normal ???

Took out my 2006 997S for the first time today following collection last week, Had to be careful due to the weather but lovely car to drive if not less involving than the Boxster S I use to have.

Did notice however when reversing it back up my drive that it had a notable clutch judder and was wondering if it is normal !!!![:)]

Already having fun with the OPC I purchased it from, Supplied a CD multi changer with the car got home to find parts missing, say they would come round today with a full kit and to check some marks in the interior, stayed in all day and no show. Also bringing a new set of plates as the front one had been run down with a drill and the rear looked like it had been put on by a blind man, sorry no a blind man could have put it on straighter, a good 1/2" drop one side to the other.

Thoughts on the clutch appreciated.

Hi Bryan, Had my Gen 1 for a year and 8000 miles, no judder in reverse or forwards for that matter. How many miles on yours?

If you haven't already try some steep hill-starts in 1st to see if the judder occurs then?

27700 miles currently on the clock

Hannu, I have had some noticeable clutch judder in reverse since new. I know the clutch on the GT3 is slightly different and was told it was fairly normal, but would be interested in hearing if you manage to find out what the actual cause is.

Hello Bryan, First question may I ask, is your car a recent purchase from an OPC . If so may I pass on my experience of my local OPC in respect of reporting clutch judder way back in 1991 I think it was with 4,000 miles on the clock when purchased. Several days later I mentioned I was getting clutch judder, and they replaced the clutch free of charge without any hassle. And I later bought a 19,000 mile 996 3.4 in 2001 also from my local OPC, and when I complained that the clutch pedal was very heavy to compress, in comparison with other cars of the period, they replaced that clutch also free of charge, and said it should have been noticed before I took delivery of the car, and the cost would be down them. You ought to receive the same level of service from your OPC. Why not join PCGB if you have time ! Regards John

Hi John Yes its from a OPC and just about to e-mail them as a cd multi changer supplied with the vehicle is not complete and the parts required should have been delivered to me by the salesman last Thursday and haven't. I have been a PCGB member since 2004 but repeated e-mails to the club officer to match membership number and "Hannu" have failed.
