Clutch life

A "how long is a piece of string" question [;)]

It all depends on how & where you drive. Driving in London & doing the traffic lights grand prix all the time = short clutch life. Spend all your time on motorways = long clutch life.

YMMV, as the Yanks say [:)]

I was always told an average of 60k for a C2 and 40k for a C4. My C4 has 43k though and seems fine, although it's used mostly for long-range blasts.

I heel & toe almost every down-change and as a result got 82,000 miles out of the original clutch fitted to my 993 C4. Everyone thinks clutches are worn out by slipping it on pull-away, but think of the torque and speed absorbed through the clutch doing a down-change under heavy braking from 4,500 rpm in 3rd to 5,500 rpm in 2nd for example!

Current 996 C4 needed an RMS at about 57k, so had a new clutch then, but was told it was well worn at that stage (I bought it at 43k, so hadn't had much influence I suspect).

At £1k a time, it's worth learning to heel and toe if your clutch lasts twice as long! (Sounds cool too - especially with PSE)
