Clutch Master cylinder seals

Whilst I'm overhauling the clutch hydraulics on my 944 I figured I may as well replace the seals in the master cylinder. The inside of the piston housing is fine without any pitting or scoring so just a new set of seals and a lick of paint on the outside will sort it out.

Problem I'm having is where can you get the seals from? OPC say that they don't supply just the seals but can do me a new MC at somewhere hovering around £90 which after just buying a new slave I'd rather do without. I have already dismantled the part once and the seals had a layer of crud on them which was easily removed using a fingernail but they are dented in the middle which is less than ideal.

If the seals aren't available separately then I'll just replace the dust cover for now which is torn and replace the whole part at a later time.

Someone does rerubbering kits - I saw them when I was looking. ECP maybe.
I'll keep thinking - they were about £23

Got it wrong - half way down the page.
PS not known for their cheapness so well worth pitching around for alternatives I'd think.

Just err on the side of caution with that seal kit.

I did the same job on my 91 Turbo. Re-sealed it with no drama. But I couldn't get th clutch to pump up for love nor money. I spent a whole evening stripping down, checking everything was correct, re-fitting, bleeding and nothing. I couldn't understand it as the cylinder bore was good (no pitting) and the original seal looked like a mouse had chewed on it.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a complete new master from porscheshop as I needed the car back. 45 mins later my car was running. And that included bleeding!

Just my two pence mate.

Cheers for the advice, I think I saw your thread about it on rennlist yesterday.

I have already had the current one in pieces and put together and it is still working fine, it did pack up briefly but that seemed to be down to a blockage in the inlet pipe and a quick prod sorted it out.

The current seals aren't looking damaged at all they were just lined in a layer of crud which I've since removed so I may just leave it and give it a lick of paint and a new dust cover.

Yeah that was me on rennlist [;)]

I'd be tempted to just give them a wash over with some brake/clutch fluid and re use.

Nice colour on that car by the way. I've always liked the metallic greeny blues.
