Clutch on floor

Hi all. Got in the 944 and started it up today and thought I ought to move it as I haven't driven it for 5 months and MOT due in about 7 weeks. Started fine but when I put the clutch down it went straight to the floor and with no resistance and stayed on the floor. You can pull it back up and it stays up but pressing again, straight to the floor.

Any ideas.............

Thanks

Some Mercedes W124 parts will help. If you buy both master- and slave cylinder gaskets total cost is about 15£

could also be the hose between the slave and master - particularly the rubber flexi-section.

If you have any fluid on the clutch pedal then probably the master, if there is any under the car more or less under where the gearstick is then probably the slave.
Check your fluid reservoir and see if it is noticeably low to see how much fluid you are looking for.
As has been said it can also be the pipes between them. Slave is straightforward to do once the car is off the ground, master too apparently but I haven't so won't comment.
I used an easibleed to bleed the clutch afterwards and it was fine.
Hope you can sort it out.

Hi Pico
As the others say . I have spare slave and they are easy to sort
Not done master but give me a call if you want a hand.

Its either, low fluid (easy fix) or your master cylinder or slave cylinder has gone. If its been stored for a while I would check your fluid levels and pump the clutch until it goes stiff. If the level keeps going down then it going to be one of the cylinders...

It happened to me last year..

Thanks all and thanks to Mike (A9XXC) for popping round.

Fluid reservoir empty and so am going to change slave cylinder.

Slave Cylinder Seal kit from Porsche Leicester £16.04!!!

Always worth ringing OPC for a price.

At that price why don't you do both mate? Experience tells me that one won't be far behind the other. Mine both failed within one month of each other.

Mine both failed within one month of each other.

Same with mine. I wonder if you replace one, and the lovely pressure you get causes the other one to finally give up the ghost?

Mind you, when I did my slave it was about £40, Bert now lists them at £85 plus the dreaded Labour tax. To change master, slave and the connecting pipe, refill and bleed at what, at least an hours labour, and this could easily be a £300 job now. Still, at least you can forget it for the next 20 years.
