Clutch pedal dropped under heavy acceleration

Hi everyone
I recently joined the forum but never posted a question till now. I have been hiding behind my keyboard reading all the other informative posts and checking which ones relate to me.
I purchased my 98 carrera in Aug 2015 and inherited a long list of faults of which I am currently going through with a current tally of £3k. One of the jobs was the clutch replacement which would slip under heavy acceleration and smell dreadful, this was replaced approx 3 months ago.
I have pushed the car several times since with no problem but tonight was different. I accelerated at full pelt with the tc on and no problem, then I turned the tc off and duplicated my run but this time the clutch pedal dropped down and stayed down while I was accelerating in second gear. I stopped immediately and the pedal returned and I noticed the smell of a burning clutch.
The car drove fine on my way home even when I pulled off in second gear there was no slippage.
So if anyone has come across this what was the remedy and if this is new to all then any suggestions. Appreciate your time.

I can't say I've heard of this before, but from what you have said I would suspect that the release bearing stuck on that occasion. Another possibility might be the hydraulics. Is the fluid level OK?

My capabilities peak at filling the washer tank with water. Sorry I am not mechanically minded so it may mean a trip to the garage.
Another issue that may be linked to this scenario is that the clutch pedal is not light and when in slow trafic it is quite difficult to maintain a slow speed without over revving, and when I dip the clutch in first the revs increase for a split second.

How old is the clutch / brake fluid? if your acceleration runs have been matched by equally heavy braking it's possibly that your reaching the boiling point of the fluid in the clutch system(by putting heat into the fluid with the brakes) or that your clutch hydraulics need bleeding. I am assuming it was a complete clutch change and not just the friction plate?
 
Clutch was replaced approximately 3 months ago and the car only gets used at weekends. As for braking heavy that never happens. Because of the smell after the event I do not want to try and replicate to see if this was a one off. As far as what was replaced I only know it cost £1k ( Sachs clutch ) and carried out at an indie.
 
Can't say I've had this problem on my Porsche, but it sounds consistent with clutch release bearing problem - they ought to to, but don't always, replace them - suggest you check to see if they did.
