Clutch pedal seized

Has anyone any thoughts re clutch pedal seized ( hydraulic ) on my 911
Carrera 3.2 .. 1989.
The car has been stored for 4 years.
thanks Steve

Hi Steve
I had the same thing on a '76 Carrera 3.0. The pivot on the clutch pedal had seized due to rust. That was a cable operated clutch, your problem could also be corrosion in the master and/or clutch cylinders due to its long period in storage combined with moisture in the clutch fluid.
Hope this helps, Dave

Could it be the clutch plate stuck to the flywheel? If so, with a bit of luck and some fairly agressive actions it can be freed, I'm sure that if you look it up online you'll find any number of methods so you just need to take your pick.

Yeah I'd go with Chris on that, friction plate fused on flywheel. Long term storage typical symptom.
Planned storage you'd disengage the clutch with a "tool" ... bit of wood !
Question does the car start? If so easier fix.
Graham

Yes the engine does start but the clutch pedal won't push down it did move half way down the first time then stuck down then came back up thanks Steve

A stuck clutch plate wouldn't give the symptoms you describe, although that may have that problem as well. The hydraulics wouldn't stop the clutch pedal returning to up position. It's a fiddly job but I think a strip down of the pedal assembly, or maybe just some penetrative oil on the pedal pivot will sort it.

Thanks for that will have a look, the pedal wouldn't go down now it only went down half way the first time then not at all Steve

Hi. You could try to dissconect the operating rod from pedal to the master cylinder
then see if the pedal moves on the cross shaft.
If ok put back and loosen the the pipe that goes to the slave cylinderfrom the master cylinder try the pedal put some rag over the pipe outlet.
If fluid comes out and the pedal goes down it's the slave Cylinder Poss. May be clutch Diaphragm cover. Gear box out.
Report back.

Charles.

If the engine runs bring up to temperature and try the clutch pedal after you have well lubricated all moving parts
