sometimes doesent come back up fully, has done it for over a year, seems like some return spring needs replacing???any one had this problem, its only the freeplay bit that makes pedals level

do you mean master cylinder?? new slave and braided hose fitted last year,i thought i read something somewhere about this problem being a cheap and easy fix,and was common..maybe not the case

Not always cured by slave clyinder. Can be the pedal hinge pin which wears causing a similar problem. Do a search on hanging clutch on 964 and your likely to get a few threads on this subject.

had a look there, never had problem as bad as it sticking to the floor, its only where the freeplay is,sometimes i would pull it up with the side of my shoe, the pressure and pedal lightness is pefect,it feels like some sort of return spring is worn, maybe the hinge pin,its not causing any problems and i dont know if it doesnt do it if i drive the car more regular, is this pin easy to fit ?

I had the same problem and ended up replacing the whole lot --- clutch, fork bearings, slave cylinder, guide tube (?). 0n the N-GT.

It is difficult to say how big a difference this has made in terms of my own confidence and the balance of the car on track.

On the road, it may only be an irritation but !

Phil,
I had this problem on a C2 Manual daily driver at 95k miles. I removed the slave cyl and it was clapped out. The fluid was literally black. I concluded the rubber seal in the cyl had broken down due to age & heat from the surrounding area.

I replaced the Master and slave cylinders. Not difficult. Parts cost £100 approx (Jasmine - can recommend them as they knew the parts and sent the correct ones). It takes about 2 hours to drain/flush, replace parts and bleed.

No problems now.

Its a frustration wondering if the pedal will return, but you can get nifty at lifting it[8|]

Good Luck

I had this problem on my 964 RS which was cured by a new slave cylinder and on my 993 Carerra and it has just started on the RS.

Given the credit crunch I'll live with it as it seem not to affect performance on jot!

Kind regards

i just fixed it today, took about 20 mins to do,as described on the link, just remove carpet etc, clean piston on master cyl and spray lithium grease all over linkages and piston on master, pedal feels alot smoother especially the last inch or two, went for a drive and it came back up fully ever time ..sorted ,again thanks for the help

i done the slave and braided hose last year,it was only the last 20mm that wasnt coming back up the odd time, feels like new now ....fingers crossed, although it doesent look to difficult to change
