I have taken the engine out today to pop the new one in and decided that I should fit a new clutch as it has never had one and also its getting a little thin. So what is the best price for a Lux clutch? £351 inc VAT so far,any one know better?

That's Bert's price, at least you know what you're getting from him! Porscheshop are £380, should get 10% Club Member discount from that but there are people here who've had delivery issues with them, apparently!

Automatic??????? [;)]

No I just got very good at matching engine speed to road speed. [;)]

Looks like it is Bert then, I can get all the other bits I need from him at the same time.

Thanks

Just looking at Euro car parts and its the same clutch as Bert sells, but I could save a bit as I could pick it up from Euro car parts. But I also need a cam belt, what do you think about buying one from euro car parts?

When I bought from ECP it was a SACHS kit. You can also haggle with them they will generally knock off 10-15%.

Lol! When this thread was started I wonder how many of us looked up how much they were on Bert's site - hope he's not logging visitors and buying in extra stock based on the interest hes been getting [;)]

369 on ebay.

So that's more expensive than the PCGB technical advisor with a long-established business. Let me think for a minute......[]

Not being funny, Bert deals with a lot of calls from people who want to talk for hours about their cars and then buy a DME relay, I'd pay more for his support alone. Certainly wouldn't buy off e-bay unless it was significantly cheaper, and don't forget that you really wouldn't want to have to pay to get a clutch replaced again if faulty parts were supplied by you. Yes, the seller might refund you, but the labour is the big cost.

Lol - Bert Gear is the official 944 Register Technical Advisor.

Jon Mitchell, 9xx, and Ollie Preston at rpmporsche are also independants who are happy to take calls from members with technical questions. Andy or Roger at Promax have also said they're happy for forum users to call for advice.
