Clutch probs?

Worsey

New member
Last few days I've noticed a few probs with gear changes geting very difficult and the clutch pedal:

1. Had to move the car on Sunday evening and clutch pedal was stuck right at the bottom, came free when I lifted it up with my foot;
2. Ditto when driving round town (which is most of my driving unfortunately) the pedal gets stuck after a gear change prob just after the biting point so I'm able to change gear again but within a couple of gear changes the pedal is fully depressed and won't come up by itself. Springs back up fully if I lift it up by putting my foot underneath;
3. When braking to turn a corner the clutch pedal depresses itself as the engine revs drop, and then stays at the same position noted in 2 above until it sticks fully depressed.

Slightly worrying. Any thoughts before I run it up to the local indie and get him to take a look?

Cheers

Hi lee

Sounds like a hydraulic issue to me....check for leaks on both slave and master cylinders and associated connecting pipes. IIRC I had this many years ago... turned out to be the master cylinder.. word of warning after changing the master cylinder it didn't take long before the slave also failed... so be prepared for requiring both.

Mine did exactly that and it was the slave. This is doable at home if you wanted to.
If you have any fluid on your pedals (be careful) but that will be the master or any under car then its the slave.

Not too expensive although the S2 seems to be the most expensive for a master cylinder... check with 'Design911' , shouldn't cost much more than £220 for both and as David states it's a pretty straight forward job to do yourself....

Type 911 have them for £82 and £70, plus VAT. Worth doing the hose between them as well, but that's easy to get from any local supplier.

I did the slave myself, and it's a PITA if you can't get under the car easily. Simple job on a ramp, no fun on the drive in winter.
