Contacted a local indie about 4 weeks ago to get a price on a clutch kit for my lux as on their website it was a good price, just under 300 quid.
I was told sorry they are old prices they have gone up now. Ok fine but how much more? I was told £325 plus VAT due to the exchange rate.
Ok i said that sounds reasonable i will get one when i next get paid in 4 weeks.
Contacted them again today to buy a clutch now i have been paid only to be told they have gone up again. Ok how much this time?
£425 plus VAT this time due to the exchange rate!!!!! Now a slight increase i can live with but an increase of £100 in 4 weeks seems unreasonable.
Are the prices really increasing that fast?? If so it seems that we better start stockpiling them now and cash in in a few years when they are worth their weight in gold!!

The exchange rate is moving slowly in our favour (both US$ and €uro). Perhaps there is a lag as older stock is moved, but I suspect that someones taking the piss!

Edd,

You clearly didn't speak to Exeter OPC. They wanted well into four figures for the parts for an S2 clutch change ...

You beat me there Oli.. Is there actually any difference between the Porsche clutch and the Sachs one? Would be interesting to compare the two.

Edd

As far as I am aware, the Sachs one is the one that Porsche supply, although in a different box. Porsche bought them from Sachs in the first place.

Oli.

Nope, it's me. I missed 'parts' and read clutch change (besides being deafened by a grinder lol).

I think that they are the same but it would be interesting to compare the two. I know with Peugeots whilst the clutches are Valeo clutches, the Pug branded ones are not available on the shelf or at least it appears that way. The aftermarket GTi clutches have weaker springs than the Pug items. It's no worse for taking power but apparently the pedal does feel a little different with the aftermarket Valeo clutch as a result.

I currently have a jeweller making me a clutch out of solid gold as its worked out cheaper in the end !!
Just as a side note the indie is still advertising complete clutch kits for under £300 on their site. Muppets!

Just bought a 2.7 Lux New Clutch complete installed including VAT £850 this is the New Sachs solid steel clutch and NOT the rubber thingy ... the car is transformed!

Do they supply just parts or is it an all in service where they only do the work themselves.
I only want to buy the kit and do it myself.

They do the whole thing including any nuts bolts etc for that, which I doubt you would get better done at that price ........... however

The cheapest Kit I could find was £400.00 including vat
