Clutch replacement

I have a 996 Turbo S, the clutch is on its last legs and shopping around for a replacement and found a wide range on the quotations, so looking for advice from others that may know more than myself. A quote from Motortune was around £1500 for clutch replacement and major service and from Porsche, they quoted £3200 incl service (£2700 for clutch, £500 for service), because its an engine out job I'm more inclined to send it to the OPC, what are your opinions?

Motortune every time..... £500 for a major service when the engine is already out is taking the proverbial - effectively double-charging the labour time.

Try Alistair on here as Suzleruk. You will find him on the 944 forum. He is a top guy who's work is first class.Failling that give me a shout and I'll do it for you.

Ditto with Greig - Motortune every time . The 996 turbo isn't new technology and they'll have done dozens - ill bet given the cost of replacement they probably do more 996's than the OPC nowadays . Don't see that many whenever I'm in .

and of course, by staying away from the OPC you have the option of installing an uprated Sachs (or other) clutch, which will feel better, last longer and cost half the price for the parts as the OPC charge for the Porsche clutch kit...
