Clutch upgrades

Are there any worthwhile upgrades to the 964RS clutch? I'm thinking of renewing the clutch on my RS and wondered if I should consider alternatives to the standard RS clutch kit.

Thanks,
tat

You can go for the optional clutch disc that was availiable, it's a 4 puc sintered steel/ceramic design. It's great for track work but useless everywhere else. Take up is fearce and you will likely stall more often than not. Alternatively you could investigate the lighter flywheel and clutch packages that companies such as tilton produce. These are a lot lighter and smaller and usually two disc or similar. Again they are better for track work and don't like hill starts etc which will burn them out. Standard clutch though is well up to the tasks and as Melv says why bother.

. There is a paddle clutch as Laurence suggests but I wouldn't bother, relatively, the clutch is the weak link on these cars - especially if you do lots of hard starts - such as hillclimbing or sprinting. However it's much less expensive than replacing broken transmission parts, so in my view better to accept a faster wear rate on the clutch - but know that it is providing some transmission protection.

Thanks for the comments. It sounds like it's best for me to stick to a stardard RS item.

I asked because my clutch feels like it's on the way out, and may need replacing soon.

If you think its on the way out because its slipping etc, then you'd best have it done sooner rather than later. Do it sooner and you only need a new clutch kit. Do it too late and you will also need a new fly wheeel if the clutch mating face is damaged.
