Errr.....yes? [8|]

Have you recently found that it never stalls in first gear? [:D][:D][:D]

Unless you have honed your clutch-biting skills and if the revs increase quicker than it takes up speed then it's the clutch.

Prepare to have your trousers taken down by the specialist! [:D][:D][:D]

Could be any number of things related to clutch though.
FIRST bleed the clutch fluid. Dirty job but someone has to do it. When was it last changed/bled?
Ensure transmission fluid is topped up and correct for the gearbox. Possibly replace fluid. Got to be cheaper than a clutch job.
Check clutch master/slave cylinder for leaking.
Check the roll pin where clutch pedal is attached to the cross shaft.
Oil leak on to clutch plates - replace gasket between engine and gearbox.
Pedal spring/stop adjustment, release bearing, fork spring etc.

Could well be the clutch fork cross shaft! I dont think it would be a fluid leak but could be master or slave cylinder stickey or clutch peddle not returning.Berny.

Certainly I had wear on the fork which made the clutch feel very granular and it was unpredictable.

I chose to replace the clutch (which had been in a long time) and the fork, bearings, guide tube and Master Cylinder --- just in case.

It has transformed the car. I may have spent £200 more than I needed, but I was spending the best part of £1000 anyway.

On the other hand, I had wasted £150 just trying to find out what was wrong, which had cured nothing.

Not wanting to worry you but I had the clutch changed by GT One last November just after Porsche had spanked the parts prices and the clutch (2 plates and the release bearing) was just over £800 + VAT for the parts.

But what is the option ?

How can anybody drive a car as wired as the 964RS --- without knowing when the clutch is going to bite ?

I can only say that I found it a killer --- and what price the repair of a buzzed engine ?
