Clutch

My cars in for a service tomorrow, I have asked them to look at the clutch as it seems to be slipping when pulling away!

Just wanted to know how much I could expect to pay for a New Clutch if needed! The car is a 2.5 and covered 37K miles.

Depends how good you are at negotiating ;)

I've heard different quotes from £300 to £1200 from OPCs.

I believe it's about 4 hours labour to do the job.

A good independent would do it for about £300 I'm sure.

I had mine done at an indepndent and theclutch kit cost £250 + Vat and the labour was £370 + VAT but that included fitting a new flywheel and the inevitable RMS

mine is quite heavy too, i would imagine this is pretty normal for the type and age of car, although at 99k, mine hasn't had a new one yet.

The 986 does have the 'Heavy Clutch' feature or 'no cost' option.

The 987 clutch is much lighter.

Heavy clutch is a symptom of release springs wear. I used to daily commute in London, and within a year found my new light clutch become heavier (though not uncomfortable). A new clutch is very light.

MY 2.5 1998

was going to say, my 986 clutch is extremely light, but then im comparing it to my GTR which had a triple plate race clutch LOL[:D]
