Oh Dear I can feel my clutch slipping - looks like i need to sort it , there is also a burning smell.

I have been told by the garage is is ok , but after 10 years of having my baby - If it needs a clutch I will give it.

Can any one offer advise or a price guide please ?

When I had mine done about 4 or 5 years ago I paid an ouching £1500. Engine out and various bits done at the same time. I think the kit was about £600 on its own.

Shop around on prices, some I got were 2k apart just had mine done this month. There were as always, a few extra bits on top when you have work done.

Hello I had my clutch replaced by PCT in Coventry in March 2013 as the clutch had started juddering when pulling away. It was the original clutch that came out after 167000 mile verified by the production date on the plate. The cost to replace the clutch was just under £2000. As stated previously the clutch kit is the best part of £600. What also put the price up was the need to fit the later clutch release fork, shaft and bearings which requires the bell housing to be machined to accept different pivot bearings. As my clutch mechanism had never been replaced the later parts were required. The original earlier parts have not be available for years. On examination of the displaced parts it was very apparent that the increase in clutch pedal effort I had experienced was due to the pivot shaft roller bearing having worn groves in the shaft. The clutch plate and fork had worn noticeably but would not have let me down. Having had the clutch change made the car feel new and fantastic. Gear changing became a pleasure carried out for fun not just necessity. It was well worth the investment. I can recommend PCT at Coventry. I use them for all my major servicing and difficult repairs. I have no personal connection to them. I hope you find this useful. ALAN
