Clyde Tunnel - "safety" cameras

I understand that our dear friends in the Constabulary are cashing in - sorry - ensuring "safety" on the hitherto free-flowing Clyde Tunnel traffic.
I don't know how long they will be at it - presumably until the coffers are full, which won't take long.

This message is intended to make us law abiding drivers aware that there may be the occasional "safety" camera carefully positioned where you can't see it until it's too late near the entrance to both sides of the tunnel.

Be careful out there!
 
I just cannot see the point of a 30 limit through the tunnel. Occasionally there might be a hazardous load or similar - so perhaps variable signs would be a way to allow a good flow without compromising safety on specific occasions.

Anyway - thanks for the info, although last time I saw a note on here about increased surveillance I promptly forgot and was zapped by a laser[:mad:]
