Cobalt blue 993

Hi

Has any one got any pictures of a cobalt blue 993, I am looking at one in a dealer over the net and will have to rely only a PPI before buying. I cannot really work out the colour tone as the pictures are in the showroom with bright lights. If any one has a picture in the daylight it would be great and save me perhaps the cost of a PPI. I like the darker blues but I am not sure how dark the cobalt colour is

thanks

Bruce

I'm pretty sure this was said to be cobalt blue a while ago. HERE (I know it's not a 993, but hope it helps)

search for COBALT on the 944 forum, they ran a whole thread some time back trying to find pictures of cars in all the colours - that's where this came from.

Did they even do Cobalt 993's? Isn't Zenith the 993 equivalent? Seen a few 997's in Cobalt. I can't find my "Original 911' book to check right right now so somebody please help here!

Just found my Peter Morgan book - Iris is <96 and Zenith is 97>. Cobalt is a 996/997 colour. Cobalt on a 997 is this:

And John Greenaway's very nice looking (see For Sale section - WHY hasn't anyone bought it yet?) is Zenith:

Maurice I know, personally I think it looks great, Classic Grey interior I might be tempted [:D] A quick check on PH shows at least two 2S's with higher mileages at 37k plus. Go figure [&:]

So where is Alan Woods car ?

I presume it is a C2S, but I can't see it ... ?

P.S. I am a member but I don't know why I am not being recognised ?

My wife had a Cobalt Blue 964 Cab in the early '90s. It is not the same as the Cobalt Blue on the more recent Boxsters/996s/997s.

If you want to know whether or not the car is cobalt blue, open the front boot lid. Now, facing the car, starting from the front corner on your right, peel back the carpeting that runs along the side of the boot. You actually just need to peel it back to around just beyond the headlamp (it's attached with a few dabs of velcro so very straight forward). Somewhere around there you will see a prominent sticker stuck to the bodywork that states the name of the colour along with some sort of colour code. It takes 2 seconds and you can't miss it.

Judging by the picture it will be either Zenith or Cobalt. Using pictures to compare subtle colour shades is tricky. I've seen pictures that make polar silver look like arctic silver and midnight blue look like iris blue. So if you want to be sure, go by the sticker on the inside fender as described above.

The car in the picture looks like a narrow body to me. The way to tell is by looking at the sill that runs along the side of the car (i.e. the door sill). See how on Maurice's car it first goes straight down and then curves outwards along the lower edge (sort of an aggressive/purposeful edgy look)? This is wide body. Compare to the narrow body car where the lower edge of the sill just cuves around and inward (a slightly softer look).

Well just to let you all know the car was Cobalt blue, it looks great in the day light and is now mine! closed the deal today,

one happy new 993 owner

Congratulations Bruce! How about a picture so we can see what cobalt blue looks like on the 993!

Sincerely,
James

Only heard of Cobalt Blue on pre996/7 on the old 944 Turbo cabs and it was a bright metallic Blue.

The regular 993 colours are Zenith Blue, Iris Blue below

Midnight Blue metallic there are two on Northways site

There is a sold Cobalt Blue!!993 on RSJ's site that I would describe as Zenith Blue

Gordon

yes its the car at RSJ's. I've not seen it in the flesh yet and had to rely on a few E mailed pictures and a Peter Morgan PPI before deciding to buy. I am hoping to pick the car up in a couple of weeks, heres the car in the daylight

Note the 17" or 18" Boxster wheels.....is nothing genuine these days

Looking at that last photo, they've changed the wheels back (from the 17" Boxster S wheels) to the correct 993 ones.
