coffin arm setup?

Good morning all 996ers,

I have a question about setup if any on coffin arms. I recently changed both of mine due to worn bushes (creaking at the tuning fork connection). Job was fairly easy, some persuasion needed, however after i have noticed that the steering is really sensitive to every bump in road. By sensitive i mean it the steering wheel moves a lot.

So the question is, is there any setup required or is it just the new arms are working and picking up the poor road conditions

I had read in the workshop manual about aligning the marks on the arms and sub frame.

Regards

I would get the wheel alignment checked, in case something has moved during the change. If it is toeing out slightly it will make it feel very twitchy through the steering.

Just had my coffins arms done in the last week - even though I had the wheel alignment done about 3 weeks back at the same time as new tyres, the new arms have changed the centering on the steering wheel by a good 5 degrees (which I didn't expect) and have introduced a slight drift to the left. Hey ho, off to the wheel aligners I go (again....!) Should have done the coffins first with the benefit of hindsight!

Most suspension replacements should always have a wheel and or tracking alignment performed after the work is done.
most tyre fitters have the equipment and usually don't charge if alignment is within the tolerance.

any miss alignment means you will pay for it in worn tyres.

cheers

Just back from wheel alignment - way way off as a result of the new arms and the camber was goosed as well - I was surprised!
Another £48 down but at least it goes in a straight line now with the wheel pointing dead ahead!
I've worked out PORSCHE stands for Probable Overspend Required, Seems Costs Have Escalated....!
