Cold start advice please?

So I have my engine in bits for other jobs and today I thought it would be good to remove the intake manifold and clean it up. I remembered that the car has a cold start issue.

When starting from cold she idle's high and when I blip the throttle the revs almost die before recovering, from memory, there may even be a little hunting going on too. All pipes underneath and vac pipes etc are good.

As I have her in bits, any thoughts?
 
I'm stabbing in the dark a bit Rob but worth checking throttle position switch and cleaning out the MAF too. Have you checked out Clarks garage shop manual? http://www.clarks-garage.com/
 
Check operation of / clean idle control valve under manifold. (ISCV)

Rob - have you found clarks garage yet? A fantastic online reference for 944's
