My wife set of to work this morning in the S2 only to phone 5 minutes later saying it would only Kangaroo down the road. After swapping cars and driving it it had to admit she was correct. T he problem seemed worse on light throttle but went off after about 20 mins. Do these cars suffer from throttle iceing or am I going to be looking for coolant temp sensor or even air flow meter faults.
Any advice gratefully recieved. P. S. -4 degrees this morning.

Never heard of a specific problem with our cars in cold weather so I suspect a fault somewhere. Was it fine once it had fully warmed up?

"Barn Door" Pivot in the AFM might get a bit stiff with contraction from the cold or frozen condensation.

Just an idea

It's the Air Flow Meter. On your S2 its the square metal box under the bonnet, to the right of the bonnet latch that has the waffle shape on top of it

AFM is the Air Flow Meter which regulates the air flow into the engine found after the air filter
