Hi Guys,

I just thought I would let you all know that I will be picking up my new GenII Targa 4S tomorrow from my OPC in Solihull.

They gave me a fantastic deal on a trade in of my 2007 4S Cab, so it seemed like a good time to trade up.

After a good test drive in one of their demonstrators I also decided to go with the new PDK gearbox too.

I am not sure but from what my OPC said, my car should be one of the first GenII Targa 4S to be delivered!!

I cant wait now until Friday.

I will take as many photos that I can of the collection and handover.

I am sure I wont be able to sleep that well tonight!! [;)]

Look forward to the pictures Nigel. Have a great time picking up the new beast... enjoy!

Thanks Mark, As we speak I am loading up all of my new good driving music CD's to my Ipod, so that finally I will be able to plug it in and leave it hidden out of sight to enjoy in the new Targa. My four year old Land Rover Discovery 3 has had an Ipod plug on it, so still cant figure out why it took Porsche so long to add it to the options list. Hope it works well on the PCM display too!! I plan to give my new car a good long run at the weekend, perhaps a trip to wales to put some miles on her on good roads. Hope you are doing the same with your new toy too!! Enjoy. Nige.

Hope all goes well - i'm sure you'll be greated with increased enthusiasm from the sales team in the current climate !

Nige, Week one has already seen 500 miles! PCM3.0 is a massive step forward both in Sat Nav, iPod and Bluetooth phone and touch screen. Having fun using the go-go juice ;-) Regards Mark

Mark, 500 miles already this week, you have been having fun. Out of interest will you be running in your car properly? IE limiting revs and load etc for the first 1000 miles, etc. The reason I ask is because I have heard conflicting reports from people about the need to run in 911's these days. I know that we have a brand new design of engine in our new cars, but I still feel that it is wise if you are going to keep the car for a longish period of ownership, then the more care you take in the first few hundreds of miles will be better for the engine in the long run. BYTW you did not say if your car is PDK or six speed, if it is PDK would like to know your thoughts on it. Thanks and have fun. Nige.

Congrats mate and all the best for delivery tomorrow - fear not re the ipod and PCM integration - it all works just fine - be careful leaving ipod in car on these cold morning it can take a minute or two to warm up! What is your spec?

Hi Mex99, Thanks for the congrats, wont be too long now, although the weather does not look too good, for my collection later!! The spec of my car is as follows. Targa 4S Basalt Black Black Leather Interior Heated Sports Seats PDK Gearbox PCM 3.0 Extended Navigation Phone Module Ipod Integration Multifunction Steering Wheel Homelink ( I have electric gates and electric garage doors too where we live!) Sport Chrono Plus Bose Rear Wiper Park Assist Auto Dipping Mirrors and Wipers 19 Inch Sport Design Wheels I think that's all I went for on the options, could not really have had much more, did think about the seat ventilation, but happier with sports seats instead. I will post pictures of the new toy later today. Cheers, Nige.

Hi Nigel, Regarding your running in question...and general driving... My OPC told me to keep it under 5,000rpm for the first thousand miles and that there isn't really a running in procedure. So on pick up of the new car I set off on my journey north and properly warmed the car up as I would normally. 5,000rpm allows you enough scope during legal driving speeds, but I did have a couple of lower gear tickles past that limit which I do not believe would cause any harm. The noise beyond 5,000rpm is addictive too ;-) My car is manual by the way, but I am looking forward to the drivers day at Silverstone to try the PDK out. Have a great time picking up the new car... looking forward to your pictures ;-) Mark
