Good stuff, and I bet the condensors, rad, discs and pads all round probably came to about the same as a minor oil service at an OPC!

What was up with the silencers, have they had it or did you just upgrade? I only ask as I wanted a local exhaust shop to try the bypass mod but they have never done it before - they say probably £150-£170.00 job, but I didn't trust leaving my car there or having them have a go at my original incase they screw it up.

Cheers,

The seals around the edges were very corroded and therefore blowing. I did think about taking to a specialist for re welding but car has done 94k. Whilst ive removed them i thought i would look for a sports replacement system but they werent replaced for this reason.
Whilst the baffles are still ok, when i shook the old mufflers you can hear all the rust inside from the seals which as i stated have rusted. Whilst these are expensive items to replace im not sure if re welding them is really cost effective, ie what if the baffles then go soon after?

Costs
Air condensors £80.21 x2
Radiator £97.50
Rear discs £115.00
Front discs £130.00
Rear pads £31.00
Front pads £41.24
Mufflers £ tbc x2
Handbrake shoe springs £23.40
Front pu mesh £25.00
VAT £121.46 ouch!

Total so far £745.02. Pleased that there hasnt been any labour charges or hiked up prices normally quoted by specialists. Only trouble is mufflers will easily double this and i think suspension is next.

Ahh I see, yes no point spending lots of money on old boxes, may as well invest more and replace if they were not so great.

That's more replaced than I thought but still brilliant, that must be a few k of work at an OPC :)

Where are you thinking of getting new silencers from? Ive seen some designtek ones here and im not sure how good they are for £750ish. Im not bothered about the claim of upto 10hp, i want a more meaty sound as i feel thats what a standard 996 lacks.

I think that price doesnt include vat.

Just won a pair on ebay auction. Got them for £271 second hand. However they are for the 3.4 engine specifically and have had the sports mod done to them which richard recommends. They also include the tail pipes. Hopefully when i pick them up, they will be in good nick, chap says they have no rust. 50k clocked up on silencers with mod done last feb.

Just spent £750 on parts + £800 on full service so looked for silencers second hand. Good luck with your search.
