Can anybody help me find my paint code!

What does it look like?

There is a load of stickers on the o/s bulk head with more E numbers than a bag of crisps!

The paint code should be on the sticker on the inside rear of the boot, you need to pull the carpet down as to access your spare. Then look down and back inside(does that make sense?)[:(] Also, you will find the same sticker in the front of your maintenance manual.(presuming you have one)
It appears that all the paint codes are prefixed with 'L'
For instance mine is LM5P, which is Baltic Blue. But according to the above link is 'Dove Blue' which I believe from a previous thread is the American equivalent.

There is also a color code sticker below the hood, between the fuse box and the blower box. It tends to fade away, though.

Thanks,

It's LY5V - Sapphire Metallic

Looks good in silver

I thought sapphire would be blue.

Sapphire IS blue, a very light metallic but more noticeably blue than Glacier is, which sometimes looks silver unless compared to the wheels which ARE silver.

VIN is a 17 character identification number which replaced chassis numbers with a common format in 1980. The paint code can be found on the sticker between the back lamps inside the boot, or on page three of your service book.

The picture isn't particularly clear - what colour would you call your car?

Yep, paint code is nothing to do with the VIN. If you have lost both the sticker in the boot, and the original documents and service book, a call to a Porsche Centre and they should be able to tell you.

Have you looked at the 944 colours faq? Might be able to get an idea from there.

Likely to be:

LY5V/L5 - Sapphire Metallic

or

LY7Y - Zermatt Silver Metallic

or (less likely)

LY7U/U8 - Stone Gray Metallic

You really need that paint code from the car to be sure.

Thanks folks

The car is over at Porsche Nine Engineering getting a 'health check' before I start chucking £ at it. So I will have to look for the sticker when I pick it up.

Looking at a colour chart found on net its either Pastel Beige or Kalahri Metallic. It does appear to be a metallic finish so could be the later.

Sorry the picture I posted wasn't the best
