Colour Coded Centre Console

Always liked this factory option but wasn't on the car I bought so I'm sorting that out!

The horseshoe around the stereo and also my new double din fascia plate are getting done at the same time, hopefully modernising the interior a little and making the new gloss Sony screen blend a little better.

So far everything is out so I look a little bit racecar:

Re-wired all the switches back up so I am fully operational, hopefully put it back together next week, will upload finished pics for you

Is it easy to take the centre console out? I lost two pound coins down the side of the coin cubby whilst approaching the Dartford tunnel last month! Plus it would be good to give it all a good clean down there....

No not really - a good hours work to get it all out, all hidden screws/nuts/bolts etc - but all possible if your confident.

I also found a couple of quid down there! The dust and filth down there isn't pleasant, im going to take the opportunity to tidy things up

Everyone find cash there and I got nothing :-(
Previous owner must have been tight or only carried plastic.

Look on the bright side!

You weren't spedning money on fuel hunping extra weight about[;)]

can't wait to see the results, this is on my list of things to do too. I've got a grey interior with vesusios grey (purpley grey) paint...

Couple of shots, not great taken on the iphone but you get the idea. Currently have the console, horseshoe and bit of plastic below the climate control colour coded.

The fascia is still at the bodyshop having gone in late, deciding now whether to complete it with the climate control surround and storage compartment so it's all done.

Will show a pic in the light when the fascia is in place.

Pic of the car for good measure as I cleaned it today for the first time in a fortnight. Had been reparing two rattling heatshields for the past few days(bigger job than I thought) and attempting some other maintenance bits so she had been looking a bit dirty.

How much did a paintshop charge mate?

Even in them pics it looks good. Definetely on my to do list....

I got a compressor and spray kit for my birthday so i might even prep and do the work myself. hmmm where do i buy vesusius grey from....

I paid £280 in total for the 3 bits and about 2 hours labour putting it all back together for me.

It's suprising how much it has updated the interior, it's far better IMO

Did it all go back securely without causing rattles and noises when you drive?

The horseshoe surround in my car must have been taken off in the past as it 'buzzes' very annoyingly. How easy is that to take off and fix?

Yeah fine, no rattles, not from there anyway!!!

The way I remove the horseshoe is to lift the centre top section from above the vents, I pull it up and back toward me and it unclips. I then run both my hands round and down and it pops out. It's pretty easy once you know how.

Cheers buddy, i can;t wait to do mine..

I think i might give it a go myself depending on if i can get the paint colour,

enjoy mate.

I did mine in arctic silver. Autopaints in Brighton mix any colour and add flex so that the paint will need crack , they also supplied me with correct primer and lacquer . I did the console, horseshoe , batwing where heated seat switches sit , hazard surround & ignition surround. Looks the business . If you google replacing centre console with carbon fibre there is a very usefull set of instructions for removal showing all locations of nuts and bolts. Be careful to unplug handbrake sensor by lifting out only a few inches before you yank whole thing and break it. I managed to find used console and horseshoe on eBay for 70 quid so I have my originals just incase. The worst part was getting all the leatherette type finish off before spraying but a good bit of wet and dry soon did the job. I put 3 coats of lacquer on mine for a very deep finish and very robust. Good luck with yours , it's well worth while. The black looks great btw!
