Comfort access fault

Hi folks, hope this is the right forum. My 2016 Cayman has electric memory seats, and when I turn off the engine and open the door the seat moves back to let me out. Normally it returns to my stored position when I get in the car and close the door. But lately, more often than not, it doesn‘t - I have to press the button on the door card to make it return. It’s hardly the end of the world but is a bit annoying, and of course it should work. Has anyone experienced this and found an easy fix? It’s intermittent and sometimes can be made to work by either slamming the door, or re-opening and closing the door once I’m strapped in.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Ralph, thanks for the speedy reply. I haven’t tried anything yet, I was too scared that fiddling on might stop it working altogether! Is this accessed through the vehicle menu? If I reset, will it mean losing my seat position? It took me a long time to find the right one. Thanks

I assume that you can just re-remember the present position so that if it is the one that suits you it would be OK.

This can be a sign of a low charged battery, my Macan does the same thing, along with not showing some of the radio presets, apparently all to do with preserving essential electrics, due to a low battery charge.

That could be the underlying cause. I recall my 981 Cayman used to forget settings (was on a CTEK when not used) and my old Service Manager looked through all the logs and found variations in battery power levels. Changed the battery and no problems thereafter. Mine was not low power but varying power, so yes check battery.

Sorry to sound dumb but how do I reset?

I think it is read the manual time or wait for an expert to explain. My "how to" memory from 7 years ago fails me I'm afraid.

Update - I found a guide to resetting which involved moving the seat through the entire range of it travel, front to back and up and down. I soon discovered I had to actually get out of the car to do this..! (I think I may have done this before, but my memory ain’t the best). Either way, problem fixed. I hop someone else may find this helpful in the future. Thanks again.

If in doubt Damian, read the manual first! 😀

Good to hear that you’re sorted but, as noted, it pays to keep your battery in tip-top condition, even more so now that temperatures are heading south rapidly.

Jeff
