Common Problems with second hand 993's

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a 993 C2 or C4 (coupe manual) around 24K and I am interested in what common problems I may encounter on the way which maybe fixed at a reasonable cost, this would then allow me to haggle with the prospective seller/trader. I read with interest 964drivers encouter and wonder if this is a common occurance or just bad luck? or am I to expect the same when looking at secondhand 993's? In particular oil leaks and non working A/C? and paint probs near the windscreen. It goes without saying that I will get any car I am interested in inspected but I would like to have an idea concerning costs to repair what seems to be common problems and would obviously effect the sale price.

All comments would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately looking at around the level you are prepared to pay the chances of coming across below standard cars rises. Usually there is nothing terminal, but the costs do add up and it is indicitive of a car that has not been looked after properly and the car 964driver looked at falls into that category.

The thing to bear in mind is that the 993 is now availabe at a good price but there are some people who buy into the marque not realising the costs involved if something was to go wrong or just to replace components that have reached their life end.

I know when I was looking for another 993 that there were a lot of poor examples, but you can usually tell this by talking to the owner and you will definately know from a test drive.

I would be much happier to see that the car has been looked after by a well known Porsche independant and things like the clutch and suspension have been replaced as these are two expensive things that you do not want to find that suddenly need changing and will not necessarily come up on an inspection.
