Competition brake pads+993 Turbo

At a recent track day (at Donington Park - brilliant circuit), my brake pads suffered considerably due to the high temperature produced by heavy braking. The answer may be in putting in competition pads, which I appreciate will be noisier. Does anyone have any experience whether this is a sensible route to follow ??

I have a modified 993 which I use the track a fair bit. I suffered from my brakes overheating and fade. I changed to Castrol SRF fluid, had additional brake cooling fitted by Barwell Motorsport and, after trying a few brands, settled in Portfield R4 pads. No more fade, no more overheating.

P.S. I tried a couple of pads on the way; EBC Reds - didn' t last the distance, Ferodo track pads ate the front discs in one day !
 
Don' t use the brakes! They only slow you down!!

However, go for uprated fluid first, possibly braided brake lines if not already fitted, but you should find the standard brakes able to cope admirably.

Like tyres, allow them to warm up, i.e. don' t do a banzai lap straight out, and ensure you do at least one cooling down lap without touching the brakes, if at all possible. And certainly don' t sit on the brakes in the paddock/pit lane.

Hi there.
Yesterday I had the front wheels off my 964 targa and it has got 993TT calipers (Brembo) and drilled & vented discs. as i was cleaning the brake dust out from the holes ( they had started to block up) I found 4 " W" shapes clips wedged inbetween the disc front and back on the drivers side but none on any of the other ones. i havent got a clue how they got there and i am wondering if they are supposed to be there. They dont foul the pads or anything because they are inbetween the front and back disc.
Just got me wondering.
