Complimentry Inspection by Porsche? What's the catch?

I took part in one of these with the register... Drank the nice coffee and ate the biscuits..[:D] They found a leaking radiator during the inspection. Some may suggest it was looking for work, I think it saved me having major issues by them spotting the issues prior, so very grateful. I think it brings you into the dealership and opens communications, which is always a good thing. garyw

Got a call from Porsche North West London offering me a free complimentry inspection and too discuss performance of my car, roughly 2 hours. I have never used a Porsche dealer for servicing and did not buy from them either.

Anyone know what's this all about? Waste of time?

I have at least 1 every year as it is a bonus when I sell my cars to have this in the file. They can pick up faults not necessarly found during your normal look round and could prevent as already stated failure of either radiators or condensors, I find them very handy and as a bonus you get to have free coffee, danish pastries and a good chat with friends, well recomended, I never found a dealer looking to do business on your car but would quote if you want them to[:)]

Would this not be done during a normal service? I'd have thought that inspecting the car, especially the areas prone to problems (and thus potential work for them), would be carried out annually anyway. [8|] I can understand why they offer it to people outside the dealer network, or as a Club event.

No Catch .. they use spare repair bay and tech resource sat around doing nothing on quiet days - so little cost to them apart from Tea and Bickies They may catch a few things wrong with a one or two cars some of those perhaps get the work done and as folks are wandering around if one person buys a new car they are quids in Go for it, there is no obligation to have to get the work done anyway and who knows they may find a fault

Good info I am booked in for Monday will go ahead. I am pretty sure they will find a fault or two if anyone followed my journey of errors be interesting what they have to say and the error codes that come out. I'll actually withhold all info and see what they say this will give a good indicator at there diagnose skills. Not that I am any expert in fact far from it.

Well I did one and they found a split boot on a driveshaft joint. I was off on a trip around Europe shortly after so they saved the joint from losing all it's lubricant and a hefty bill. Well worth the free inspection.

All done, just confused now [:-] No reports of MAF or O2 sensors, no report of error codes which means they can't have read them, as my airbag is unplugged. Oil Leak from Oil Separtor Oil Leak from Plug Tubes Cylinder 1 & 3 Corrosion on inner brake disk Thats the lot. Question what all is done in a 48k service? That's my next service but I have had new spark plugs and brake fluid already done, wondering what else there is?
