hi all, just flicking through classic cars mag and noticed a white 944 turbo[1987], advertised as mint, burgundy interior, sensible mileage? and is priced just under £13,000 would you expect the car to be concourse for this sort of money? also has full opc history. opinions please thanks jason

for that money I would want factory condition!!.

I just bought mine - 78K 2.7 Lux 1989 NO rust, Full Porsche history well over and above normal schedules. Brand new tyres, immaculate wheels, immaculate paint and that was advertised for 4K...

- only slight imperfections on mine are a few small dash cracks and a little tear on the rear seat top.. easy fixes

Ant. I personally wouldt think a 2.7 lux would be priced the same league as a turbo...
But YES ide want a VERY mint car for £13K....
In fact. I personally wouldnt buy one, Ide get a 968....+ you can now get a good one for around the £13K mark...

You can get a 996 for that money!

Or more sensibly a reasonable 964

Or my choice, an Excellent 928

Or 5 of my 951s!!!!!

All I would say is that a £13k 944 however shiny is going to have a rather limited appeal in the market even in far more buoyant times than now.

Also were you ever to drive it as intended for any length of time you would immediately wipe a huge chunk off its worth. Conversely, not using it in order to preserve such an elevated value seems pretty pointless to me [8|]

................ and a whole heap of trouble. The old saying that you get what you pay for rings very true here.

Its the same with any Porsche model - good ones fetch good prices, but only when the market is there.

A good 944 Turbo seems to be around the £5-6k mark at the moment. A very good original, or very nicely modified and maintained one would be between that and £10k. Turbo cabriolets, when they show up, seem to be around £10k as well. For £13k I would want the glove box to be full of crisp fifty pound notes as well!

A local dealer close to me has a 944 cab up for £9999.00 which is too much for what it is (IMO) but good ones are getting harder to find.

Unless it's a Turbo cab, that's very high. Between £4""6k would be more normal for one in good nick.

Didn't someone pay similar money for a 88-89 Turbo in white with black leather with very low miles a few months ago?

Simon Ps spotless turbo went for 14K ish as I recall as did the white car from Nutley? as has been mentioned.
There is a red 944T cab on sale from a club member (might be Tipec?) for 10K.
It sounds nice on paper. And of course Nick's car sold quickly so really nice cars do sell its just a matter of at what price.
They should of course all sell for 5 figures and then some.

ISTR there was a concours winning car we talked about on here that went for £9K a little while back. OK a bit of controversy about the gold painted bracketry but still it was a real concours car.

A true concours car will look head and shouders better than one of our very good daily drivers that we use regularly. Concours is not for me but I can appreciate the truly outstanding condition that a true concours car will be in. The right buyer who wants a car like that will obviously pay through the nose for the right example.

There will be less than a handful of these cars in the country, they will take a while to sell but obviously they will cost more
