The title says it all, well almost. Today Lucy (my 6 year-old daughter) and i attended our first R24 PCGB meet at Kimbolton country fair - a fab event run by the Sporting Bears Car Club at Kimbolton Castle, the home of Catherine of Aragon (Henry VIII's first wife), and with our lovely Guards Red 911 (964 Carrera 2 Coupe) we were voted by other Porsche owners as the best in class (1990-1999).
We were so thrilled to think that the 50-100 or so Porsche owners in attendance thought that our car was worth "a" vote, never mind worth many votes but we never expected to drive home with a prize. Yes, i know our car is very good, this isn't faux modesty, but there were many "great" cars there all worthy of many votes.
So why does the title not say it all? Because the best bit of the day was the welcome we received from every PCGB member we met. What a lovely, friendly, welcoming bunch! Every single person was keen to chat to us and many chatted to Lucy making her feel really welcome as an integral part of the club. In addition the effort invested in this event by the R24 team was clear for all to see.
THANK YOU one and all! Not just for the votes, or the organisation to enable it all, but primarily for the warmest of welcomes. What a fab day and a great event. Look forward to our first trip to the Ferry Boat too.
Cheers!
