Condensation above coolant tank

Hi

Noticed the other day a patch of condensation on the underside of the rear boot lid directly above the coolant cap. Does anyone else have this problem. Would a new coolant cap solve the problem.

Your comments much appreciated.

Sandeep, yes my car has this too. I wipe it off with kitchen roll, then close the boot lid until next time... I don't know why it arises, I always seem to have enough coolant, so tend to ignore it.

It could be the cap. Make sure it is screwed on properly. The newest version of the cap ends with a .01 part number.

The other thing to check is the air bleed valve. Remove oil and coolant caps, then the plate. You will see eight screws. Make sure they are tight.

The valve has a /seal that can also be a problem, but try the other 2 things first.

My '04 Boxster S has done this almost from new. It's had 2 OPC services since then and they have never mentioned it as being a problem.

Thanks people for all your comments, I think I will replace the cap and have a look at the screws. I'm not losing any coolant so it could be a boxster characteristic that you live with.

Thanks Tool Pants,

I had patch of condensation on the underside of the rear boot lid, did what you said and found the 7mm bolts were lose.
Also I noticed some growth around the valve seal [8|], see photo's below.

I used a brush and screw driver to remove the coolant growth around the seal, then poured water around the value and used the brush to clean it, there's a drain in the middle of the attached picure which drains in front of the rear wheel.

Hope the pics are useful to someone...

This has just started to happen to my car tonight! Thanks to this post went straight to the 7mm headed bolts under the cover and found they are loose.

Anybody know what they should be torqued up to ?
