CONDENSATION PROBLEM

MY 944 CONTINUES TO CONDENSATE UP WHEN LEFT PARKED UP. I HAVE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I HAVE NO WATER LEAKS BY CHECKING UNDER CARPETS ANY OTHER IDEAS ?

My car has been doing this for the last week, i think it has been to so with the use of A/C and very damp/high moisture conditions.

I tried driving with the A/C off on last journey and put the windows down for a couple of minutes, and so far it hasn't misted back up, so maybe this is the same as you ?

Run the aircon flat out cold for a while. The drier should remove any dampness.

Also, as above, leave the car wide open if you can.

Some ppl (Honest John) recomend running full hot for a while to rid pipes of moisture -I'm not sure about this as I've had major steam up probs after!!!

The fast clear button also runs the aircon to dry the air out.

To be honest, I can't see how using the aircon would increase condensation unless the drain off pipe is blocked and its leaking condensed vapour (water) back into the car.

944's do have sundry places where they like to leak and wet areas may not only be the carpet. Rear seats, head linings, rear side panels and boot wells are all areas which can harbour damp without being obvious.

The drain for the AC is behind the cubby under the radio it is a corrigated (spelling?) rubber pipe

I hate to be a Killjoy [8|] but DPD944 has an S2 so 'probably' does not have aircon anyway [:D]

If there's no leaks then it just sounds like general dampness and regular running with the heater and fan on full should improve it. The S2 heater is awesome and after just a few miles can turn the interior into a furnace [:)]

Collected a dead 944 the other day and thought I'd do the owner a favour by leaving the hatch open during the afternoon it was on my drive to let the carpets dry -the belts, seats and carpets were covered in condensation mould. Didn't make a h'apporth of difference and the windows were running with condensation the next day -guess it's strip the carpets out time then!!

I had a lot of probs with water with my 944S2....

Check the numerous drain tubes... even the one for the filler cap is a s*d.

I found 2 blocked (sunroof), 1 kinked and detached (filler cap) and don't forget the door bottom drain holes (take a speaker out and check behind for signs of damp). Check your boot wells to make sure plugs are ok and dont forget the main culprit - the rear hatch rubber seal - easy and cheap to replace.

I did all those and it was drizabone[:)]
