condensation

I have a condensation problem in the left hand rear lens. I have checked the seal and this is fine as are the screws complete with fibre washers. I have put vaseline on the seals, and of course I have checked that the drain is clear. The car has not been used in the wet, and it is kept in a garage. Even to-day , its 20 degrees and there's still bloody condensation inside the lens.
Any ideas what the cause may be?
My wife suggested that there may be a water leak from the engine as its also in the back!
[:(] (she drives a mercedes)

Graham - Is it possible that you may have in fact cured the problem, but are retrapping the moist air within the assembly. Have you tried leaving the lens off for a while?

PS - Go easy on your partner. Another time she could be right, then you're gona get an aweful lot of ............. 'I told you so!'

911s dont have water?

steve
Steve - Well mine does. It appears in the rear right foot well, and I cannot find where it's coming from. I'm pretty sure it's coming up and not down though 'cause it generally appears when I run trough floods and not when the car has stood stationary, not even in heavy rain!

sounds silly but when you have been putting the cover back on is it in the hot dry air or in a garage where it might be cold?

Steve - Yeh! I get some condensation and emulsification on the filler cap and around the top of the filler tube. Another reason for opting for the annual oil change.

'Water in the footwell but no leaks - can't handle that statement!

Hi Richard and Steve,
I will take the lens off again and leave it off for a while and see if that fixes it.
Last time I took it off, cleaned it and put it straight back on, and thinking about it ,it was on a pretty dull damp day.
thanks for the advice
