Condenser cleaning and mess grills

Good evening sports fans....

Having read many, many, many posts about condensers failing and the mess grills that Porsche don't fit, I thought it was time to clean the condensers/radiators on my 996 and fit some mess grills.

So with some black mess, distructions from the forum (thanks minny) and my best overalls on, it hit the task head on last Saturday.

I am not good woth URL's etc, so I can only show you one picture, which is after I removed the bumper and ducting to the condenser.

Well...... (hope the picture uploaded)

(It looked the same on both sides)I was shocked about the amount leaves, grass, twigs, mud, animals and small children that had been swallowed up! You will also note the condenser has fallen apart at the bottom edge (thats way my air con doesn't work). I don't think that the condensers have been cleaned ever!

So the upshot is, I need to replace both condensers, clean the radiators behind (and hope ther are OK), and set an annual maintenace task of cleaning the ducting and clear the cabriolet drainage ports in the rear wheel arches (that was earlier post). Working in vehicle support engineering, I am shocked and disappointed with Porsche that there are no scheduled maintenance tasks of cleaning these ducts and drainage.

So to any new 996 owners get in there and clean those bad boys and get some mesh fitted.

looking at your pic it's clear the water rads are fuba also. So that's four (could be five, have you a centre one) rads at once to change, still doing the job yourself sure will save a bundle over OPC getting involved. get Kwikfit to regas once new condesors are in. I clamp my water hose's at the rads thus avoiding bleeding system or loosening coolant which is around £90 to replace.
