Cone filter

Hi,
Has anyone installed a cone filter and had any benefit?
I read in a forum that they can cause erratic idling and cutting out.
Also that they can directly take in water when it rains!

What are the best types to install?

thanks

I have a cone filter, which sits under the rear parcel shelf/firewall, so doesn't get any rain on it. I have had it for 10 years (as long as I have had the car), and have never had any problems with it.

To be fair, I only have one as there is no room for the normal filter, as the car has been modified, so I can't quote any performance figures for it, or realistically tell you if the idle/cut-out problem would exist in a normally aspirated car, but it works fine for me.

In terms of the make, I believe that it is K&N, but, with the car not in my possession at the moment, I can't say.

Not really the answer that you want, but a start.

Sounds good, zero horsepower gain, dubious filtration !

Search on Pelican for endless debate on K&N filters. The general opinion is that they are about as useful as a Type R sticker.
