I have a 4S which was registered in January 2004.Reading various articles is says the 04 model started production September 03 until August 04.How do i check which model i have? Also what are the differences between the two apart from service intervals
Thanks

The model year is the 10th digit in the VIN (should come right after 99Z on a 996)

MY June 03 had an 80Ah in it, so it must be something else that distinguishes it. Wasn't the service interval increased ?

Yes the service book Say's Servicing every 2 year although the previous owner had is serviced each year.If they increase the service interval surely there has to be something different with the engine?

Steve - maybe your battery has been replaced.

I checked the Serrvice Information Techniks that are issed at the beginning of each model year. The only difference on the C4S coupe for MY 04 is the battery. There are no changes on the engine or any of the service items at all. I suspect it is was marketing exercise, or a case of over-servicing prior to that.

Incedently, Porsche (Reading) are very helpful if you want to find out information of your car.

They were able to tell me the date that my car came off the production line having given them the chassis number, which differed from the registered date by 4 months.

So if you want to be precise, they may be able to help you.
