Connecting iPhone to PCM 3.0

I have recently purchased a 2010 997.2 Turbo with PCM 3.0 and am thrilled with it. Can anyone recommend how to connect a Bluetooth receiver to the car's iPod/USB/Aux input? I believe there are Bluetooth products which will connect to the Y cable with 30 pin connector cable which came with the car, so would appreciate the experience of anyone who has a successful solution.

Thanks!

Hi Clive

I have a similar car- congrats they are awesome..

Assuming you are looking to play music from an apple device; ipod or phone, the following works for me.

Get an apple 30pin to lighting connector and a short lightning extension cable. You can then connect your modern device to the car using the 30pin cable and you will have full functionality on the pcm screen.

I currently use a 16gb iPod nano and have talking books, podcasts etc and it all fits under the centre armrest. A modern iphone works perfectly but won’t fit as well so I just sync via the computer when I need to. I think the later iPods have Wi-fi sync..

Hope this helps..

In the interests of clarity- I should have said 30pin to lightning adaptor, it is a small thing without cable. I also should have added that I had to tape the adaptor to my 30 pin Porsche cable as the clips no longer held them together. This has worked perfectly for 3 years in this car and 3 in my previous 997.2.

Hi Brian,
Thank you. I tried to connect my iPhone (6s) using a 30 pin to lightning adaptor with no success. However, I just read that the adaptor needs to be a genuine Apple product so perhaps that is the issue?
My Turbo is also a Black Cabriolet, so it seems we have similar cars indeed!
Best wishes

Hi Clive

I always said I would never have a black car and now have 2. They look great when clean but keeping them clean is another story.....

I haven't tried with a non apple adaptor but have read that some other makes don't transfer all the data. I hope it works for you, as I said it has for me in 2 cars.

Searching on the PCM for podcasts can be a bit hit and miss but the music stuff is fully functional.

It may be teaching granny.....but if you haven't already it's worth checking the cab roof drains. A length of pvc covered net curtain wire with some tape to stop the end snagging is ideal.

Good luck with the iPhone..

Thanks Brian.
I too was initially unconvinced about a black car, but am now converted!
Can you expand on checking the cab roof drains? I've not looked into that...
Best,
Clive
