Considering Cayenne

New member
Hello members, I am new to forum.

I currently have a Merc M class due to need to tow horse box it has the air suspension option and a good car but not very exciting. I am considering a cayenne, around 04 or 05 plate, due to the reported better driving dynamics and will be looking for the 4.5l model with air suspension. What is the members experience of real life fuel economy for the 4.5l and 4.5 turbo.

Many thanks in advance

I ditched an M class in favour of a Cayenne, having owned 3 M class vehicles prevoiusly.

The Cayenne beats the M class in every aspect.

I am now on my second Cayenne, soon to be third[:)]

I had ML 500's and then petrol Cayenne 4.7's and as far as fuel ecconomy is concerned there is not much difference. Expect 17 average but up to 26/28 on a long light footed run.

I've had both gen1 and gen2 Cayennes, both normally aspirated V8s, and fuel consumption has averaged as near as dammit 19mpg with both cars (so much for the better mpg from the direct injection engine) and have done nearly 130k between the two of them. The V8 will give you a bit more on long trips as Tony says, but towing will reap it's own reward!

Tony will No. 3 be a Diesel ?

Kevin, Are you serious ?

That's like me asking you if you are Taking up Ballet [:D]

However on reflection It may possibly be an oil Burner as these days One tends not to exceed 85 mph in the UK and Europe and 0-60 times seem to have little relevance.

I think that the Hybrid could be another option but since the GTS hasn't reached 18,000 miles yet it seems daft to change for change's sake.

That is an unfair post Tony you know very well i trained under Madam Romberg
for E N B and it was where we first met ............
Some of the performace figs on the oiler do seem good
700 miles on a tankful etc I could get to Mougins on that with ease .
I believe the acceleration is quite good as well.

many thanks for feedback, I suppose this is a mid life crisis moment for me. Fed up having to pick sensible 4x4 cars based on towing horses so trying to get best compromise and a bit of fun
