Hi John,

Just wish more UK Porsche would have a go. Always plenty from Region 62 in France of course and usually an excellent turn out from both Jaguar and MG marques. It is our 5th time (3rd taking part). We love the atmosphere not to mention the wine and the food!

Cheers

Is it mainly for "classic" cars.... Do you think my 2000 996 GT3 would look out of place ?. The trips seem very well priced and living on the South Coast not too far to travel.

Charlie

Well Charlie, there would be a pretty good chance that you will be mobbed everywhere you go by French 'enthusiasts' of all ages! Although described as a 'Circuit' on the Sunday, the Fench Police have close off all the roads into and out of Laon - the result is an opportunity to make every school boy's dream come true watching a GT3 screeming around the citadel (sorry officer I was just making progress..). Modern as well as true classics are there. If you go let me know and we'll hve a glass together. Cheers Dave

Dave,

I have booked with Continental cars tours for the Laon event, just waiting to confirm my hotel, likely to be the "Ibis" seeing as I am a bit late in booking. Still not sure about the GT3, don't want to look out of place amongst all your fine looking real classics...

Cheers

Charlie

Charlie, Great news. You will not be out of place - year before last Mercedes had the Maclaren there doing the 'circuit' - the French were all over it! Now all you have to do is make sure your navigator can read the road book in French... We are about due for another run to Chateau Thiery - great spot and a brillient day's motoring. The local motocycle club do the marshalling for the event. And of course their is a Champagne reception in the Place de Marie on the Sunday - all of it not to be missed! Hope to meet up with you. We are at the St Vincent Hotel with another mottly lot from UK.

Cheers

Laon is fantastic you will have a great time. No problem with modern cars everything is accepted there.

Charlie, Just had the car serviced (BS Motorsport over at Wescott near Aylesbury) in prep' for Laon. They changed a CV boot while on the lift and put a BIGGER spring on the heater valve - hopefully this will keep me much cooler at Laon. Fitted a new rose-jointed strut-brace today and been doing some cosmetic stuff. You all set? Dave

Dave, just finished Zymoling the car, looks good. I have only done 300 miles since it was serviced in October, so its hopefully all up together. We are both looking forward to the trip. Just need to be careful getting on and off the ferry..... very low front spoiler. Although I have my eye on a 924S.... so mybe I will use that if I happen to buy one before late May

Cheers

Charlie

Dave,

Wife and I are doing the Laon trip, We are meeting up with Cliff and Tracy and 2 other Porsche couples on the Saturday morning.

Should be a good event.

Hi Steve, Cliff and Tracy,

For some reason I only just got your posts today! Odd but not to worry. My wife and I are driving down to Dover on Firday for the 1050 am P&O ferry. Staying in the St Vincent Hotel as usual. Hopefully meet up with you guys and gals in Laon.

Charlie, How are you travelling over? Just had an OPC inspection today. Ticks in all the boxes, pretty good for a 20 year old.

So looking forward to a run across France. Two years ago on same event we spent the Monday visiting the old GP circuit at Reims. You can still drive it - all public roads - well worth it if you have time to spend.

Hope to meet up with you all.

Cheers

Dave

Dave,

Catching the same 1050 ferry, no need for my Sat Nav then, I will just follow you... looks like I will be in my GT3, although the 924S has not materialised, I am looking at a 1971 Targa on Wednesday, but its got no MOT and even if I like it and buy it, I don't know if I would risk it so soon on a trip overseas.

See you on the ferry.

Charlie

Charlie,

What colour is the GT3 - just in case there are more than one.. (in my dreams)..

See you on the ferry - somewhere near Costa Coffee I wouldn't doubt..

Cheers

Dave

Dave,

Thanks for the e-mail, as a LAON virgin, any guidance greatfully received. My Car is Zannibar Red.... not easy to hide, mobile is 07966 126464. Maybe we should all get together to have a meal one night.... if nobody has any other firm committments...a PCGB contingent outing...

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I'll remember to wear my shades on the dock while trying to spot it! Your idea of a get together sounds solid. I've sent e-mails off-forum with additional contact info for yourself, Steve, Cliff and Tracy. I'll leave it to them to contact the other 2 Porsche and see if they fancy the same.

Dave

Charlie,

I think it would be unwise to risk any new 'toy' (71' Targa) as you will know little about it. The round trip for us is circa 1200 Kms (750 miles) with the Saturday event being a 'spirited' 158 mile drive (I hope). Sunday, the Tour de Laon is around the old town walls some 9 Kms around with the Gendarmerie in the past 'encouraging you to 'make progress'. But just watch out for the cobbles..

I've made a note of your number and will be looking out for you at Dover. If we don't meet up for some odd reason, then as you exit the Duane in Calaise there is a 'hard stand' on the right, against the fence - I'll meet you there.

Cheers

Dave

Charlie, Cliff & Tracy,

Anyone doing the Monday run as well? Mia cupla, I only picked up on it too late to do anything about it here BUT I am hopeful that at registration on Saturday I may be able to get onto the Monday run list. Hope so.. Safe journey all of you.

Cheers

Dave
