convertible top acting up

after 10 years of no problems, the convertible top on my 996 c4 has been acting up.

sometimes when putting it down it does not open 100%, so the door windows do not go up.

other times when raising the roof it hesitates and I need to stop and lower it and then attempt to raise it again.

any thoughts on why the top may be acting up?

someone suggested checking the hydraulic fluid in the convertible to pump? where is that located , how can I access it?

I would check the fluid level first. The pump is behind the panel behind the rear seats. It has a clear plastic reservoir on the bottom with min and max marks. I'll post a picture when I get to my PC tomorrow.
