Coolant in S2

what's everyone's thoughts on coolant. I've always had blue stuff in mine , but I was told recently to change to pink. Any ideas or has any got first hand experience of it.

I looked into this recently as I must have a small leak somewhere, as it's slowly going down....I thought/was hoping my recent belts and water pump change may have fixed it but sadly not....I think Jon Mitchell advises against the pink stuff, but don't quote me on that.

I've had slightly declining coolant level since I've owned the car (about 15 years now). It's a turbo not an S2 but my thoughts, having nut and bolt stripped the entire engine, coolant system etc, die tested the cylinder head etc (I did have a cracked cylinder head at one time many moons ago), is that it's normal. I suspect the vent system is working sometimes and hence the level declines very slightly over time. I guess it depends how bad it is, but I tend to check and top up every few thousand miles...I've used both pink and blue, but never mixed, no difference, no issues with either...

This is pretty much exactly my experience (apart from the cracked cylinder head).

Use pink or blue/green. Don't mix them. Keep it topped up. That's about it.

Oli.

I heard the pink stuff (OAT) can attack the solder joints on the copper heater matrix. I have no idea if this is true, but can vouch that heater matrix replacement is a pig of a job. Changing the coolant every two years is no big hassle, especially if you cut a piece of plastic pipe to target the drain hole into a bucket rather than the built in sprinkler mechanism (if you've done it you will get the joke)

I use ECP's pink stuff-their top of the range -as far as the marketing guff goes in the BMW & both 924S's without problems-not aware of soldered joint problems-can't see ECP selling something in vast quantities that could harm car engines etc.I pay £11 + VAT for 5 litres

Pink stuff or blue stuff????

I use fluorescent yellow Prestone stuff from Costco - tastes horrible neat but mixes with Dr Pepper ok.

I got some genuine porsche stuff a number of years ago, which was pink, been using pink stuff ever since with no problems but I do change it at regular intervals.
